Join us in Paducah, KY, Quilt City USA, to stitch alongside Karen Styles of Somerset Patchwork, visiting from Melbourne, Australia. Karen will be hosting two intimate, three-and-a-half-day retreats at the Paper Pieces shop, designed for English Paper Piecers who want focused instruction, creative play, and meaningful connection!
Each retreat is limited in size to ensure plenty of one-on-one time with Karen. The cost is $429 per person* and includes guided workshops, group activities, and open sewing time in a relaxed, supportive environment. You'll also be treated to three lovely lunches!

We’ve partnered with the Holiday Inn Downtown Riverfront to offer special group rates for attendees. Guests are also encouraged to explore local lodging options such as The Respite or nearby Airbnbs to help support the Paducah community. Note: lodging is not included in the cost of the retreat.
Retreat Schedule Overview
Day 1: Welcome & Hexie Play
Kick things off with a meet-and-greet at the shop, followed by relaxed hexagon play to get everyone settled, inspired, and stitching together. (Hexagon Papers and template included!)
Day 2: Scrap Basket + Shopping
Dive into Scrap Basket—either revisiting the project or getting started from scratch. In the afternoon, enjoy a group trip to Hancock’s of Paducah, followed by a zipper pouch workshop back at the shop.
Day 3: Scrap Basket + Museum Visit
Continue working on Scrap Basket, then stitch a needle pouch together. The day wraps up with a group visit to the National Quilt Museum.
Day 4: Open Sew with Karen
An open sewing day to work on projects started during the retreat or bring something new. Come prepared with questions—Karen will be here to guide, troubleshoot, and share her expertise.
Once you've registered for the retreat, you will be invited to a private Facebook group where you can discuss lodging and carpooling.
*Attendees are responsible for securing their own lodging. Scrapbasket Pattern, Pieces and Templates not included.
