English paper piecing, or EPP, is the ultimate quilting technique for those who want to add a little bit of creativity and versatility to their quilting projects! This traditional method of quilting has so many benefits that you'll be wondering why you haven't tried it before.
First of all, EPP is all about precision! By sewing fabric pieces onto a paper shape, you'll be able to create quilts that are pieced together perfectly every single time. This is especially helpful for quilters who are new to the craft or those who struggle with cutting and piecing accuracy. Imagine the feeling of accomplishment you'll have when your quilt looks like it was pieced together by a pro!

Another benefit of EPP is its portability. Unlike traditional quilting, which requires a large work surface and a sewing machine, EPP can be done by hand and is therefore very portable. This makes it a great option for quilters who like to work on projects while traveling, or for those who have limited space in their homes. Imagine being able to quilt while waiting at the doctor's office or while on a road trip with your family! The possibilities are endless!
In addition to its precision and portability, English paper piecing also offers a ton of flexibility. The technique can be used to create a wide variety of designs, from simple hexagons to more complex mosaics. This makes it a great option for quilters of all skill levels, and allows them to create unique and personal projects. Imagine the feeling of pride and accomplishment you'll have when you create a one-of-a-kind quilt that you designed yourself!
Another benefit of EPP is that it can be used to incorporate a wide variety of fabrics into a quilt, from scraps to vintage fabrics and even lace. This can make for a very special and unique quilt that will be treasured for generations to come.

Lastly, EPP can also be a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of quilting. The technique requires focus and patience, and the process of basting the fabric to the paper shapes can be very meditative. Imagine taking a break from the fast-paced world and enjoying the peacefulness of quilting with your own two hands.
In conclusion, English paper piecing is a fun and relaxing quilting technique that offers so many benefits to quilters of all skill levels. So why not give it a try? Trust me, you won't regret it! EPP is sure to bring a little bit of fun and excitement to your quilting projects.

I really like hand piecing. So I hand pieced a basket using 1/2” hexagons. Looked great I was so happy. Then I turned it over to press it. I was so shocked. How do you press all those tiny seams! Oh my what have I done! Now I really appreciate EPP for those small hexagons. Really it is faster and when you turn it over all the seams are already flat and pressing is fast!! It was a hard lesson to learn.
EPP is my happy place. Just thinking about it calms and gives me rest.
