As the locals settle in and bunker down for the fabulous swarm of quilters, Jess has some tips to share about our little Quilt City!
How is the show compared to recent years? Is it "worth it"?
Of course, it's so worth it! Of all the quilt shows I have been to, I've never seen another show where the whole town comes alive with 'quilty!' It's quite spectacular. (Ok, I haven't been to the Sisters, OR show yet, but it's on my bucket list!)
Will the Pop-Up shop be open? Are there any show specials?
You bet your pretty threads, we'll be open! Our official hours are: Monday-Tuesday 11 AM - 3 PM; Wednesday-Friday 8:30 AM-6 PM; Saturday 9 AM-2 PM. We will have our most popular pieces and templates, projects, quilt kits, fabric and more!

We're excited for another year of having Jammin Threads joining us in our store! They have quilty drinkware, and you can even customize it on the spot, while you wait! They also have cute quilt labels and fabric.

What's the story about that giant needle next to the shop?
You mean the world's greatest art fixture?! hehe! Local artists and philanthropists joined forces to put a pin in Paducah's world famous art district, and we're fortunate enough to have our shop right next to it! I have figured out all the perfect angles for taking pictures with the needle, so keep an eye out for our selfie phone holder! You pop your phone in it, set your timer and get great shots!

What's a "can't miss" during Quilt Week?
Ok, I've got a few fun things to share about this year! Like I said, Paducah QuiltWeek is MORE than just the show in the convention center! Our local quilt guild has not one, but TWO exhibits going on -- one in the Library and one in our City Hall!! I have to urge you to check them out. They are a great group of talented quilters.
If you're looking for more activities - check out our city's Artful April Events guide. There's so much to do!
What do you like for local food recommendations?
There are so many gems in Paducah when it comes to restaurants, but if you want the insider scoop as a local, these are my favorites for a pick-me-up, or a sweet treat -
1. Evergreens - It's a plant shop, but it's a coffee shop, and they serve warm apps and beer and wine in the evenings! They have a delightful atmosphere, I would go there everyday if I could! There's also plenty of room to spread out and stitch with your friends.
2. Summer's Sweetery - If there was 'queen of cheesecake' it would be Summer. You can build your slice - like a frozen yogurt bar for cheesecake, or grab a premade delicious slice from the cooler. (I recommend grabbing 2 so you and your friend(s) can pass them around and try more than 1 flavor!!)
If you need a dining guide, ask one of us in our Shop! We have a map with all the local eats listed on it!
Is the museum open? How is it? What exhibits do they have right now?
You bet they're open!! And this has to be one of my most favorite exhibits - Victoria Findlay Wolfe: Option Expedition. In her exhibit, she's exploring what it means to create and the decision making process that quilters make as they go. It's truly something cool to see! You may have already purchased tickets to the museum as a bundle with your AQS tickets, but if not, you should grab one online to avoid waiting in line. Just click here.
